From beans
to brilliance
We have deliberately selected castor as the base material for the production of the frames of our sunglasses. The sustainability aspect is the number 1 argument, without compromising the performance. Thanks to the use of castor, petroleum-based plastics are not or hardly needed for our frames. Besides that, the cultivation also adds to the plant's advantage. Castor does not compete with food crops, because it can be grown on semi-arid soil in India that is unsuitable for growing corn and rice, for example.

What is PFAS?
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are a family of thousands of synthetic chemicals used since the 1950s to make surfaces water-, grease- and stain-repellent. They don't break down in nature — or in your body. That's why they're called "forever chemicals." They accumulate in water, soil and blood, and are linked to serious health and environmental harm.
Why most lenses aren't safe
Almost every sports lens on the market relies on fluorine-based coatings for water and oil repellency. It's the industry standard — and until now, nobody questioned it. We did. We found that the very coatings designed to keep your vision clear were leaving a permanent trace on the planet.
